Vegan Pizzas

Our March event was a fundraiser for Freedom Bookshop which was recently firebombed. We made vegan pizzas for donations and had new art on display by John Abell who makes amazing wood prints and a mural by CMK a local graffiti artist in the garden of The Wells Hotel.

Roedd ein gig am mis Mawrth yn codi arian i’r siop lyfrau radical Freedom yn Llundain cafodd ei ymosod ar efo tan yn ddiweddar. ‘Natha ni neud pizzas fegan am gyfraniad ac roedd celf newydd gan John Abell sydd yn ‘neud argraffiadau pren anhygoel, ac hefyd dirlun newydd yn yr ardd Y Wells Hotel gan artist graffiti CMK.

We were also happy to have the new We R 4 Real Kollective zine at Afiach, it is great to see things picking up off the ground for them as they launched their first event METANOIA this weekend at Cwmaman Institute in Aberdare. Through art and music they are trying to challenge the stigma surrounding mental illness and challenge discrimination.

Roedden ni hefyd yn hapus i gael zine newydd y We R 4 Real Kollective ar gael yn Afiach, mae’n gret i weld pethau yn digwydd ganddynt nawr ers i nhw lawnsio hefo noson METANOIA penwythnos yma yn y Cwmaman Institute yn Aberdare. Trwy celf a cerddoriaeth maent yn ceisio herio y stigma o gwmpas salwch meddwl a sialensio dirnadaeth.

Opening the event was Arran Stinker, who played a wicked mix of original songs and obscene versions of covers – great entertainment and a powerful voice as usual!

Yn agor y noson oedd Arran Stinker, nath chwarae mix o ganeon gwreiddiol ac cyfyrs aflan – sydd wastad yn ddoniol iawn, hefo ei llais cryf yn bwerus iawn.

Next up was Cardiff’s local folk-hero Cosmo, playing his catchy songs, sometimes silly, sometimes political, always great! He recently released an online EP to help raise money for Welsh Antifa – check it out!

Nesaf oedd Cosmo, hoff ganwr gwerin gwleidyddol Caerdydd, hefo ri ganeon bachog pob tro yn gret! Rhyddhawyd EP drost y we, i godi arian i AntiFa Cymru yn ddiweddar – checiwch o allan!

Radio Rhydd were on next, launching their first album “Trapped in the Game” at Afiach with an energetic set and I was impressed at how much they had developed since the summer. They are a really tight band and the most exciting and passionate bands to sing in Welsh for years! They got the room dancing and started off their 4 day tour of South Wales with a bang!

Radio Rhydd oedd ymlaen nesaf, yn lawnsio ei albym cyntaf “Trapped in the Game” yn Afiach hefo set bywiog, mae nhw wedi gwella llwyth ers haf ac mae nhw’n band tyn iawn rwan! Nhw ydi’r band mwyaf cyffrous a angerddol i ganu yn Gymraeg ers oes! Natha nhw gael y stafell yn dawnsio a cychwyn off ei taith o De Cymru hefo bang!

Last on were 51st STATE, a wicked two piece punk from the West country who play super fast songs with loads of energy and with no messing about! Always amazing whenever they play, they have a new album out soon – so keep your eyes peeled!

As always a massive thank you to everyone that came, played, cooked, made art – Afiach is a collective effort from everyone whatever they do and it is always great to see people enjoying themselves in a creative self-run environment!

Fel arfer — Diolch yn fawr iawn i pawb nath ddod, chwarae, coginio neu neud celf – Mae Afiach yn gweithio achos mae pawb yn dod at ei gilydd ac yn mwynhau! Mae’n gret gweld man sydd yn cael ei redeg yn annibynol yn gweithio!
